TAX AUDITS

Tax audits can be very intimidating.  We recommend that any time a government agency is planning to audit you that you obtain competent representation.    If your accountant or CPA prepared your tax returns, he or she should be adequate to represent you.  They know your tax returns, your potential vulnerable areas, if any, and your financial situation.  However, in certain cases you should be represented by an attorney.

Attorneys should be aware of the Intenal Revenue Service special program for the audit of attorneys.  If you are an attorney you should read my Article on Audits of Attorneys.  You can also obtain the IRS audit manual on attorneys from our site.

We have handled audits in front of the following:

bulletInternal Revenue Service
bulletFranchise Tax Board
bulletState Board of Equalization
bulletEmployment Development Department
bulletWorkers' Compensation Insurance Carriers

Our pricing for handling audits is as follows:

Minimum retainer varies $2,000 to $3,500
